Helping to keep our youth and school zones safe
For more than 85 years, CAA Manitoba has been proud to offer the CAA School Safety Patrol® Program to local communities. With more than 7,500 student Patrols across the province, CAA continues its commitment to road safety awareness and youth leadership.
In its 85 year history, CAA Manitoba has made many changes and improvements to the CAA School Safety Patrol Program to ensure it meets the highest possible safety standards. We work closely with local police services to deliver the program and to make sure that the program is up-to-date with changing safety needs. We provide materials, training and equipment free of change to Patrol schools, so that students have everything they need to do.
History in Manitoba
In 1936, at Greenway School in Winnipeg, teacher Louise Staples organized the first CAA School Safety Patrol team. Months later, student Patrols were instated city-wide to protect pedestrians and promote road safety in school zones.
Across Canada, CAA has a long history of working with safety partners to bring road safety programs and initiatives to communities, and the CAA School Safety Patrol Program in Manitoba is no different.
This program's success is also thanks to our program partners! Our partners including; Winnipeg Police, Brandon Police, Morden Police, RCMP, Manitoba Moose and Brandon Wheat Kings help to ensure this top-notch safety program continues to be best it can be.
